What are seizures and its causes?
A seizure is the physical findings or changes in behavior that occur after an episode of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. There are several different causes of seizures that could include abnormal levels or sodium or glucose in the blood, brain injury, high fever, dementia, illnesses that can cause the brain to deteriorate, infections that affect the brain, kidney or liver failure, illegal use of street drugs, Phenylketonuria, withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs.

Sometimes no cause can be identified. This is called idiopathic seizures. If seizures repeatedly continue after the underlying problem is treated, the condition is called epilepsy.
