Two River Theater Company has announced the extensions of two of its productions for additional weeks of performances.

Two River Theater’s Jitney

August Wilson’s Jitney, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, will extend through February 25 following rave reviews from critics and audiences. The production opened in Two River’s Rechnitz Theater on February 4 and was hailed as “a superb revival” in The Star-Ledger and “exceptionally well cast” in the Asbury Park Press.

The company of Jitney includes Harvy Blanks (Shealy), J. Bernard Calloway (Booster), Anthony Chisholm (Fielding), Chuck Cooper (Becker), Brandon J. Dirden (Youngblood), Roslyn Ruff (Rena), Ray Anthony Thomas (Philmore), James A. Williams (Doub), and Allie Woods Jr. (Turnbo).

The extended calendar for Jitney includes new performances on Thursday, February 23 at 8pm; Friday, February 24 at 8pm; and Saturday, February 25 at 3pm and 8pm. Ticket prices for Jitney start at $37.

In This House

Two River Theater also announces an additional week of performances for In This House, a world-premiere musical that was previously scheduled for an extended run due to demand from the theater’s subscribers. To accommodate single-ticket sales, In This House will extend a second week and run through April 8 in the Marion Huber Theater.

In This House is the fourth collaboration from the team of Sarah Schlesinger (lyricistand co-bookwriter) and Grammy Award winner Mike Reid (composer and co-bookwriter), a Nashville songwriter whose hits include the pop standard “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” made famous by Bonnie Raitt. The co-bookwriter is Jonathan Bernstein. The director is May Adrales and the music director is James Sampliner.

In this melodic chamber musical, two couples-one at the beginning, the other at the end of their time together-meet accidentally and spend an evening together in a deserted house on New Year’s Eve.

The company includes Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper (now starring at Two River Theater as Becker in Jitney); Jeff Kready (now starring in Tokio Confidential at Atlantic Stage 2); Brenda Pressley (the original Broadway cast of Dreamgirls); and Margo Seibert (the world premiere of Orestes: A Tragic Romp at Two River Theater).

In This House will open to the press on Saturday, March 17 at 8pm.

The extended calendar includes new performances on Wednesday, April 4 at 1pm and 7pm; Thursday, April 5 at 8pm; Friday, April 6 at 8pm; Saturday, April 7 at 3pm and 8pm; and Sunday, April 8 at 3pm. Ticket prices for In This House start at $45.

August Wilson’s Jitney is sponsored by Arrow Limousine. In This House is sponsored by Rumson-Fair Haven Bank.
