After two weeks of testimony in what could be deemed one of the biggest trials of our generation, the prosecution in the George Zimmerman case has rested.

Zimmerman, who is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida, looked stoic and wore an iron clad mask as the state presented its case against him.

Looking from the outside in and only being presented with the states version of events it would be a difficult decision for almost anyone to decide at this point, for example, the prosecution chose to call Sanford police investigator Chris Serino to the stand.

Serino, who interviewed Zimmerman in the following hours after the shooting was able to recall scant memory which seemed to bolster the self-defense theory that the defense will try to present to the jury. He was unable to remember exactly what Mr. Zimmerman said to him in the immediate moments following his initial contact but was stated that he would be better suited to recreate the description of those events that Mr. Zimmerman gave to another investigator in which he was present.

He also stated that he found Mr. Zimmerman to be “credible” in his description of the altercation he had with Trayvon Martin.

One very important fact that will be presented during summations will be the testimony of both mothers during the past two weeks. Both mothers testified that it was their son who could be heard on the 911 call screaming for help.

This will be important when the case goes to the jury because that determination will also determine who the aggressor was during the altercation.

The defense called their first two witnesses on Friday, so stay tuned to UVTV and watch the live stream of the trial and ask yourself, how much has America changed in the last decade?
