Former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been sentenced after being convicted of 24 counts of including tax, bribery, extortion, and racketeering.
The former mayor of Detroit was sentenced to 28 years in a federal prison by a judge on Thursday.

Prior to sentencing, Kilpatrick spoke out in his defense, saying he deeply regretted his actions, particularly hurting his family, and taking advantage of his power while Detroit citizens were struggling.
