If you watch MTV, you might have seen the commercial for White Squad :  a company that allows people of color to hire a stand-in white person to use their ‘whiteness’ to their advantage.

“Is your skin color holding you back? Are you tired of systemic prejudice ruining your day?” asks the narrator, who then offers “professional white advantage services” to serve as stand-ins for members of a minority.

From hailing cabs, getting a job, to getting a lawyer, the “White Squad” comes in to get anything that you need using their white privilege.

My opinion

When I first seen the commercial, I couldn’t believe my eyes and asked myself was this real? The commercial and testimonials are so well done you start to believe that all of this is real. When you find out it isn’t, you also realize that it opens your eyes to an unfortunate reality : the constant discrimination people of color face.
