Evidence to make arrests in Deandre Harris assault

Lee Merritt, Harris’ attorney, said police have “more than enough evidence” to issue an arrest warrant.

Harris and his friends, who helped him escape the attack, said they were in the area for counter protests against the “Unite the Right” rally.

“Me and about five of my friends were out protesting. We thought [the racists] left, but at one point they came back,” he explained to The Root. “Everyone was exchanging words with the group, but then the KKK and white supremacists just rushed us.”

“They were beating me with poles”, Harris told The Root.

What is distressing about the whole incident, is it happened right beside the police department.

“The beating happened right beside the Police Department, and no police were there to help me at all. My mother is now thinking about suing the city of Charlottesville,” Harris added.

Shaun King stated on his Facebook page the police have leads and persons of interest to issue arrest warrants, but still no arrests have been made.

Deandre Harris’ attack was broadcast for the world to see, but law enforcement has yet to simply enforce the law. Hopefully arrests will be made soon.

Deandre Harris told reporters despite the horrifying ordeal, he would not let it ruin his spirit.
