A second Louisville protester named Kris Smith has been shot and killed following the death of another Breonna Taylor protester Hazma “Travis” Nadgy.

The fatal shooting of Kris Smith

Smith, 42, was killed on Friday Dec. 11 the 299 block of North 26 Street, The Courier Journal reported. Just like Nagdy, Smith who is a business owner and a regular at Black Lives Matter protests, was fatally shot inside a vehicle, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Following the death of Travis Nagdy, whose murder truly impacted the Louisville community, Smith spoke fondly of him.

“He’s gonna be missed over here, because he was really one of the good ones,” Smith told The Courier Journal at the time.

Black lives matter movement association

Nagdy was a prominent leader in the BLM movement demanding justice for Breonna Taylor, who was fatally shot by Louisville Metro police in March during a botched drug raid on her apartment. No drugs were found during the police search and the cops involved were not held accountable for her death.

Taylor’s case sparked national outrage and protests across the country.

“It makes me feel good that I can come out here and it doesn’t matter where you came from, it doesn’t matter what happened previously in your life,” Nadgy told The Associated Press in September, the Daily Mail reported. “You’re here right now, you’re in this movement.”

Sadly, Nagdy was killed during a suspected car jacking on Nov. 23, in Louisville.

“Just like everybody else, he was finding his niche, finding his voice” at the protests, Stachelle Bussey, a pastor and friend of Smith’s, told USA Today. “We’re mourning one, then we lose another. … With Travis, I lost a brother. Today we lost another one.

Kris Smith’s death is one of more than 150 homicides in Louisville this year, a number that blows past the city’s previous record of 117 homicides in 2016, reports The Courier Journal.

According to authorities, no arrests have been made for Nadgy or Smith’s death.
