Just recently one of Mr. Wronko’s social studies classes had the opportunity to video conference with the students at the Solid Rock Foundation School in Ghana, which was led by their teacher Andrew Tekyi Boateng.
Ghana Session on Cultures
During this session, the students form the Solid Rock Foundation gave a presentation introducing the continent of Africa along with their country of Ghana. The students spoke about the food, sports, resources, technology, and politicians of Ghana.
Presentations from Asbury Park Middle School students
After finishing their presentations, Mr. Wronko’s students introduced themselves and shared background information about their culture. They described their family origins, including ties to Nicaragua, Mexico, and Haiti. The students from Mexico highlighted holidays such as Cinco de Mayo and Day of the Dead.
After Mr. Wronko’s students finished introducing themselves, all the students engaged in a long discussion about their hobbies, school, and life goals. Mr. Wronko’s students enjoyed the experience and hope to attend another session with Ghana.
VFW Recognition
In addition to the session with Ghana, Mr. Wronko’s students, Edgar Escobar, Jayanna Lunsford, Ryan Monroe, and Ceahni Piper were all recognized for their participation in the Veterans of Foreign War essay contest the Patriot’s Penn.
