On September 24, Alex “Humble” Hill, award-winning celebrity publicist, will celebrate 30 years of life with The Humble Hill Experience Variety Show recognizing Sickle Cell Awareness Month through fundraising and education at The Garden Theater in Detroit from 7-11pm EST.

About Sickle Cell

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Sickle cell disease (SCD) is the most common inherited blood disorder in the United States. The disease affects millions of people worldwide, about 100,000 Americans, many of whom are Black or African American.

Sickle Cell Awareness

Hill, who recently signed on Emmy Award-winning host, comedian and actress, Loni Love, as a Humble Hill PR client, desire to spread the word about sickle cell, the importance of clinical trial participation, and curating memorable experiences for the community came from a personal place. It’s built upon growing up and watching his first cousin, Clifton “Ray” Kirkman II, fight for his life in a very silent way.

“Sickle Cell Disease is not in your face as cancer is. It is debilitating in some cases with no cure. I’ve had several friends pass away after a bone marrow transplant. I would rather deal with the complications of the sickle cell than risk my life trying to live without it,” says Sickle Cell Warrior Ray.

With passion, Hill and Kirkman plan to spread joy and love in an entertaining atmosphere all while raising awareness about how The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America – Michigan Chapter (SCDAAMI) has been supporting patients and the community.

SCDAAMI has been a leader in the sickle cell community since 1971. The organization is committed to improving the lives of people with sickle cell by keeping its mission at the center of its work.

“Many know me as a publicist. However, people are becoming familiar with my passion for music and a good karaoke night. I want to curate an experience and atmosphere for attendees to have a good time but leave educated on Sickle Cell,” Hill expressed.

A representative from Global Blood Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development and delivery of life-changing treatments that provide hope to underserved patient communities, will be present to educate during the event.

Variety Show

The variety show, inspired by Hill’s love for entertainment, will include a live band, gospel artist Kevin Stewart, songstress Brittany Myree, poets B. Ward and Squeeze with very special guest headliner Grammy-nominated hip hop artist and actress Yo-Yo to name a few.

The Humble Hill experience will be a dressy cocktail reception-style event with HOT 107.5’s DJ TEE TWO TIMES spinning Detroit hustles (known widely as line dances) and all the top hits.
