Victims

Authorities identified the victims as David Lee, 44, and Brandy Smith Lee, 45.

Family and friends described the couple as loving and supportive parents. Sheriff Cook confirmed that someone shot them inside their home following what appears to be a domestic argument.

“It appears there was some sort of domestic argument last night between Trevor Lee and his parents and that this shooting culminated from that argument,” Cook stated.

Community in shock over tragedy

Family members and close friends say they are devastated and confused by the incident. James Lewis, a cousin of Brandy Smith, described Trevor as a “good kid” and a “straight-A student.”

“I don’t know what caused him to do it,” Lewis said. “He had good parents. So, for him to do that, you know, we don’t know why.”

Trevor’s best friend, Kyree Bamon, echoed the disbelief, calling Trevor “funny, charismatic,” and someone who “always brought good energy.”

“They were probably the best, or one of the best, families I knew,” Kyree said. “They treated me very well. And told me all the time they loved me like a son.”

Deputies recovered the firearm used in the shooting at the scene and believe it belonged to the parents. Sheriff Cook confirmed that Trevor and his parents were the only individuals in the home at the time of the incident.

Investigators are now working to unravel the details of the argument and determine whether there were any prior behavioral issues or warning signs.

Trevor Lee was expected to begin high school next week. Instead, he is now behind bars, facing serious charges that could alter the course of his life forever.
