According to NJ.com, Ravi was released 8:35am today, walking out with defense attorney Steve Altman.

The two left and headed toward Altman’s silver BMW, where media members awaited.

Ravi was sentenced to 30 days in jail after being found guilty on multiple second-degree bias counts for recording roommate Tyler Clementi on a webcam in September 2010. Ravi then tweeted about his roommate’s encounter with another man, inviting others to watch a planned second encounter.

The former Rutgers student spent 20 of the 30 days in jail because of good behavior.

Potential jail time

Ravi faced up to 10 years in prison on the charges, but Superior Court Judge Glenn Berman sentenced him to 30 days in the county jail, three years’ probation and 300 hours of community service.

Federal immigration said they will not pursue to deport Ravi, who was born in India.
