The chemical leak that happened in West Virginia has been all over the local and national news, so if you have yet to hear or read about it then let me refresh your memory.

On January 9th, 2014, nine counties were notified that a chemical leak had occurred and that the drinking water for said counties was contaminated and unsafe for nothing except for flushing your toilets.

Living in this area has always been a scary and unsettling situation, because they don’t call it “chemical valley” for no reason.

There are plants of all kinds surrounding the area in which I reside, and there has always been that threat of a leak of some sort.

I have had to “shelter in place” several times in my lifetime of living here, and that is a scary feeling when there is that “unknown” factor thrown in.

So here we are, reality and one month later we are still not using the water for consumption.  They have yet to do a proper investigation into the leak, there is in fighting in the legislature in regards to the aftermath, businesses have lost tons of money, etc…etc.  What happened to having a plan in place in case a leak occurs?

I guess no one thought of that, even though we are residing in a place with chemical all around us.

So when you see that the zombie apocalypse has begun, don’t be surprised if you see that the epicenter is where the West Virginia chemical leak occurred.
