Two donation pages had raised more than $400,000 for officer Darren Wilson, who fatally shot unarmed teenager Michael Brown.  But those pages in support of Wilson suddenly shut down over the weekend without an explanation, reports the LA Times.

Donation pages for Darren Wilson

The pages, “Support Officer Darren Wilson” and “Support Officer Wilson“, two separate pages with similar names, raised $235,750 and $197,620, respectively, for the Ferguson police officer who shot Michael Brown on Aug. 9.

The online donation campaigns have generated some controversy for defending Wilson, drawing racist remarks and lack of accountability.

Neither owners of the GoFundMe sites have explained why both campaigns have shut down around the same time.

Michael Brown

The shooting death of Michael Brown by officer Darren Wilson caused unrest, demonstrations, and protests in Ferguson, Missouri prompting a local and federal investigation on whether Brown was wrongfully killed.

A GoFundMe set up by lawyer Benjamin Crump for Michael Brown’s family has so far raised more than $300,000.
