Just a week after two NYPD police officers were shot and killed execution style in Brooklyn, a report that a similar incident has occurred in Los Angeles.

According to reports, two police officers were responding to a radio call around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday when two men opened fire on their LAPD vehicle.

“It was unprovoked. They were literally just driving down the street. We don’t know the motive at this point, but there’s a sense of uneasiness,” said LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado.

“Everyone in the department understands what is going on, especially with what happened in New York. Everyone is on alert. Everyone has been told to cover each other and watch each other’s back.”

The two officers didn’t suffer any injuries and opened fire on the suspects who later fled the scene. The LAPD has detained an 18-year-old man as a “person of interest.”

Tensions in L.A. were taken to new levels earlier this week following the autopsy release for Ezell Ford, a mentally ill African-American man who was shot and killed by police in August in South Los Angeles.
