A possible hate crime has been committed at an NAACP office this week, and very few  mainstream media outlets have covered it.

Our did you know story of the week is about a bombing that happened on our home front.

On Tuesday morning, a homemade explosive device was detonated against an exterior wall of a building that houses the NAACP Colorado Springs chapter and a local barbershop. There were no injuries or deaths.

According to the FBI, the bomb was placed near a gasoline can that failed to burst during the explosion; had the gasoline can ignited, the results could have been much worse.

While the investigation is still ongoing, the FBI said this week that it could be an act of domestic terrorism.

On Friday, in a press conference, law enforcement officials announced the composite sketch of a person suspected to have been closely involved in the bombing of the NAACP office in Colorado Springs. They said the sketch will be released later today via email.

The person has been described as a balding white male who’s approximately 40 years old.

Mainstream media has slightly covered the story. The news only got attention particularly due to socialBombed?

Otherwise, this biggest story of the week would have probably been swept under the rug.

How can we immediately talk about acts of terrorism aboard, but fail to talk about what’s going on in our own backyard?

If you’ve covered Ferguson, Missouri and the reactions of people who are against bad policing, why sweep this possible hate crime or ‘act of terrorism’ under the rug? It goes to show that there may be hidden agendas but I digress.

Nonetheless, thanks to progressive media movements like Unheard Voices, we are up-to-date and abroad about what’s going on. Stay tuned for more on this story.
