History of Ghana

The students from Ghana gave Asbury Park Middle School students a wonderful presentation about the history of Ghana. For instance, the Ghana students created power points on the Ancient Ghana Empire, The Akan people, Kumasi, the Portuguese arrival to Ghana, the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, the Asante Wars, African soldiers involvement in World War II, the founders of Ghana, Martin Luther King Jr.’s visit to Ghana, and the Pan Africanists Movement which involved Marcus Garvey’s and W.E.B. Dubois’ message for all blacks in the world to be unified.

The Ghana students had conducted in depth research for all those topics and provided answers to numerous questions that the APMS students had. Some of those questions dealt with the Asante Wars, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah meeting with Martin Luther King Jr., and the Portuguese’s involvement with Ghana. The students from Ghana did a great job with their presentation and should be recognized.
