Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story

Claiming self-defense, Zimmerman was later acquitted in July 2013 of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges, sparking national protests.

The six-part series, which features interviews with Trayvon’s parents Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, will also explore the onset of the Black Lives Matter movement.

In addition to Martin’s parents, the documentary will feature interviews with the family’s lawyer, Benjamin Crump, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Carmelo Anthony, Angela Davis and many others.

Jay-Z’s second body of work

The film is Jay Z’s second body of work into telling a story about the impact of the modern criminialization on black youth, following in the footsteps of 2017’s Peabody Award-winning Spike TV docuseries TIME: The Kalief Browder Story.

Rest in Power will premiere on July 30 at 10 p.m.
