Ghana Session: Spanish Heritage Month
Spanish Heritage Month passed and it was remembered as a time in which America recognized the contributions that Hispanic and Latino’s made for this country.

Spanish Heritage Month celebration
Yvette Elgart and her chorus put on a wonderful performance for Spanish Heritage Month at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.
On that day, Mrs. Elgart’s chorus had two performances.
First, her chorus sang songs representing Spanish Heritage Month for the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Then without a break, her chorus performed for Mr. Wronko’s social studies class and the students in Ghana. Besides performing for those students, joining the session on that day was Curriculum Enrichment, History Hoe-Down & Cowboy Sing-A-Long, and member of the Children’s Educational Assemblies, Mr. Ronnie Brandt.
La Bamba
During the Ghana session one song that stood out was Mrs. Elgart’s chorus performance of La Bamba. This song was performed by the late great Ritchie Valens. However, on this day Mrs. Elgart’s chorus made this song to be long remembered.
Some lyrics:
Para bailar la bamba
Para bailar la bamba se necesita una poca de gracia
Una poca de gracia pa’ mi pa’ ti y arriba y arriba
The entire audience was grateful that Mrs. Elgart’s chorus made the extra effort to not only do one performance but two on this day.
