During a recent Ghana session with remote learning, Papa Williams gave a wonderful presentation to Mr. Wronko’s students regarding Ghana.

Papa Williams talks African countries in Ghana Session

Papa first explained that the continent of Africa consisted of many countries. Then he went into explaining the flag of Ghana.

The flag had three colors which were red, yellow, and green. The red represented the struggles for independence. Next, the yellow represented Ghana’s mineral wealth. Finally, the green represented Ghana’s forests and natural wealth.

Papa went on to explain how Ghana was known for having a gold supply, oil, and cocoa beans. Besides that list, he spoke about a popular dish in Ghana which was Fufu.

Different locations

In addition to the food, Papa spoke about the different locations in Ghana such as Mole, Kakum, and Hans Cottage. At Hans Cottage he showed my students that there was trained crocodiles that you could pet and feed.

On a side note, it was amazing crocodiles were once this size:

Cape Coast Dungeon

To close off his presentation, Papa explained to my students about the purpose of Cape Coast Dungeon which was involved with the slave trade. He also mentioned that President Barack Obama visited this location.

Student questions to Papa Williams

My students thought Papa did an amazing job with his presentation and asked him questions afterwards such as:

What sports were in Ghana?

What kind of school subjects did the students enjoy in Ghana?

My students also explained to Papa how they were handling the Covid 19 pandemic and could not wait for a vaccine to come out.

On a side note: Success during the pandemic, Cretaceous Warzone ad for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle on display in Prehistoric Times Magazine issue 134.
