Florence, SC elects its first woman, African American mayor
Democrat Teresa Myers Ervin defeated Republican Bryan Braddock becoming Florence’s first woman, African American mayor.
Teresa Myers Ervin will become the first woman mayor and the first mayor who is African American for the City of Florence, South Carolina after Tuesday’s election win.

This also is the first time the city has had a new mayor in more than a decade.
Myers Ervin said she has a lot that she wants to do to continue to move Florence forward and she’s thankful that voters elected her to the position.
Statement
“I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve the city. But more so, for the opportunity for all of us to work together. To moving our city forward.”
Myers Ervin won the Democratic primary back in June.
She’s been on city’s council for more than 10 years and points her success with redeveloping communities in North and Northwest Florence.
