Nation of Islam Releases Statement On Noah Green, Condemns Capitol Incident

The Nation of Islam has released a statement on Noah Green, the man who rammed a car into two officers at a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol, killing one of them before he was shot to death by police.

Authorities are trying to piece together what caused Green to initiate his actions.

Investigators believe it was an isolated incident from a disturbed young man who had been suffering from delusions, paranoia and suicidal thoughts, a U.S. official told The Associated Press.

Reports surfaced that Green was a member of the Nation of Islam before his death.

The religious organization has released a statement on Green and the unfortunate events that transpired at the U.S. Capitol.

“We have prepared this statement to answer some of the many inquiries that we have had over the last few days about Mr. Noah Green. Naturally, we, like most of you, were disturbed watching the news of an assault on the U.S. Capitol where one police officer was killed, one was injured, and Mr. Green was killed.”

The Nation of Islam confirmed that Noah Green, 25, was studying to become a full member — but believes “potential mental illness” caused him to plow a car into two Capitol cops and then jump out with a knife.

“I am sure, had he been blessed to come through the crisis that he was going through, he would have been a star in the mission of the resurrection of our people,” Farrakhan said in the statement.

“We need to know what happened to our brother,” he said.

The group also condemned the “wicked mischaracterization … trying to tie this tragic incident to the teachings of the Nation of Islam.”

“Timothy McVeigh confessed that he was a Christian, but nobody blames the church for his misconduct,” the group complained.

“You have criminals, people that do horrific things, but we never know their religion. It’s not important because religion does not teach criminal behavior,” the statement said.
