London-based designer and content creator Project7Denim embarked on a bold challenge starting April 13th: survive two weeks in Los Angeles with only $250, no guaranteed place to stay, and the aim to generate income solely through his craft. By day three, a budgeting misstep and a $200 machine purchase nearly depleted his funds. Undeterred, he allowed his account to go into the negative, stating,

“I can’t go over budget… but I never said I can’t go under it.”

About Project7Denim

The founder, originally from Chicago, launched Project7Denim in 2019 after leaving a 9-to-5 job. What started as creating clothes for himself quickly gained attention, leading to a successful pop-up shop where everything sold out on the first day. The name “Project7” reflects his journey: each piece is a personal project, “7” represents his initial $7 investment and a nod to anime’s “7 deadly sins.” Today, 70% of the brand’s materials are recycled, highlighting sustainability and individuality.

With just one week remaining in this self-imposed challenge and over $3,000 in support from followers, he’s keeping the momentum going — crafting and selling his one-of-a-kind denim pieces, navigating LA’s grind, and documenting every twist and turn. What will the final week bring? Let’s set up an interview with the founder to find out.
