Morehouse College student Kyle Coleman found dead after Virginia crash

Authorities have confirmed the death of Kyle Coleman, a 19-year-old Morehouse College student. He was reported missing after his car was found abandoned following a crash in Fairfax County, Virginia, on June 7.

Coleman, who had returned home for the summer after completing his freshman year at Morehouse, was last seen on the night of the accident.

His empty vehicle was discovered at the crash site, prompting an intensive search. On June 10, authorities recovered his body from a nearby pond, bringing a tragic end to the search efforts.

Friends and former classmates have expressed their grief, describing Coleman as “a light” and “incredibly bright”.

A vigil was held Tuesday, June 10, at Battlefield High School, where he graduated in 2024. Hundreds gathered to honor his memory.

Morehouse College released a statement mourning the loss, calling it an “unimaginable tragedy” and offering support to his family and loved ones.

Fundraiser for the family

In the wake of his untimely passing, loved ones have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his family and help cover funeral and memorial expenses.

“A proud graduate of Battlefield High School and a rising sophomore at Morehouse College, Kyle was full of promise, purpose, and potential. He was deeply involved in his community, serving as the Teen President of the local chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. from 2024 to 2025. Kyle’s kindness, leadership, and joyful spirit touched everyone around him,” the GoFundMe reads.

The fundraiser has raised a little more than $23,000 out of its $30,000 goal.
