While 6-year-old’s are playing with barbie dolls and Lego’s, Malachi Samedy is already honing his craft as a drummer.
The gifted child from New Jersey is youngest student to be accepted at prestigious Mark Murphy’s School of Music of New Jersey and is already being referred to as a child prodigy.
Malachi Sademy began to flourish and develop his talent by following a strict, yet fun syllabus. His education is structured around Traditional Music Theory, Rhythmic Syncopation as well as Modern & Classic Drum styles with an emphasis on Jazz.
He has been featured in two documentaries, “Totally Alive”, a film about amazing people around the world doing amazing things with their lives, and “Encounters in Jazz”, a film on Jazz legends and musicians.
Unheard Voices had the chance to see Malachi Sademy perform this past weekend at the Omega Psi Phi – Phi Upsilon Chapter 60th Anniversary Luncheon.
He will be the first scholarship recipient of the Ermon K. Jones Scholarship.
The Ermon K. Jones Scholarship is awarded to two groups of students: The Class of 2020 and current college bound high school seniors that participate in the Omega 2020 Mentor Program.
