George Zimmerman trial

The first to the stand was Greg McKinney. He works for the Tampa-based company U.S. Security Alliance, who provides video surveillance for the Twin Lakes Retreat area. He stated there are nine surveillance cameras. He tells the court he visited the retreat last night at the state’s request to familiarize himself with the location.

The court plays the video and there is a debate about time on the cameras.

The second to the stand was Jonathan Good, a neighbor who witnessed some of the fight. He was questioned by both the prosecution and defense.

Good says he was in his home watching television with his wife when he heard a noise. When the noise began to get louder, he opened some of his blinds and his sliding glass door.  He went on his balcony and  sees two people in a tussle.

Good says he clarified that he could not actually see punches and the guy with the red was on the bottom. He said the person on the top was in a straddling position, and the person on the bottom had his face up.

The defense asked Good if the person on top could have been holding the person the ground down. Good said, he could not say.

Good says he yelled “what’s going on” and no one responded. Then he heard someone yelling “help”, but stated he couldn’t identify the person who was yelling.

George Zimmerman is on trial for the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin. In February of 2012, George Zimmerman a volunteer neighborhood watchman shot and killed unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. The murder sparked national outrage, highlighting issues of race relations and gun laws.
