Many people ask me what helps me get through when I’m feeling down and that’s music.

Not many know that when I was a pre-teen/teenager, I was heavily into music.  At 9 years old, my grandmother wanted me to learn how to play the piano and well, she brought me a piano. Months later, I was enrolled in piano lessons. For 5 years, I studied classically piano up until my mother passed away. Back then, I wanted to be a professional musician. I knew how to play the piano, I could sing, and yes I could rap.

Here is me playing the piano:

A composition I was starting on:

My life has had its ups and downs, and one thing that always got me through was music. I reminiscence often on the days when I would write and produce songs about how I’m feeling to soothe my soul. Aside from my own music, I became engulf into the compositions of others music.

Dwele

I fell in love with the Missy Elliot’s, Eve’s, Raheem DeVaughn’s, Amel’s, Musiq Soul Child’s, and Dwele’s that feed my soul. Whenever I’m feeling down I also turn to music. Whether it was me writing or listening, music has always been therapeutic for me. I started dabbing into other things but music has always been my passion. I say to myself, one day I’m going to open up my music book and start bringing those songs to life. But in the meantime, I wanted to share with you some songs that have gotten me through and brings my spirits up.
