All eyes on Rick Fouché

For producer, musician, and visual artist Rick Fouché, everything begins with being fully present in the moment.

A multidisciplinary creator with more than 15 years of experience, Fouché has built a body of work shaped by curiosity, growth, and lived experience. He gravitates toward moments that challenge him, expand his artistry, and allow him to share his evolving vision with the world.

Rick Fouche is a visionary

And those types — the Rick Fouche’s — are most needed in this multi-faceted industry.

A native of New Jersey, Fouche’s love for music started during his childhood being exposed by his parents to the likes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Jazz, and Classical music.

“There’s videos of me as a little kid dancing, pointing at the camera. When I look at myself as a child, I was breaking the music down intellectually. I’d be dancing to the music, but also be in deep thought”. Fouche said.

In elementary school, borrowing cd’s from his friends, is when Fouche’s deep appreciation for hip-hop began. He described those experiences as “euphoric”.

Rick Fouche wrote his first rap song in school and continued to write creatively from that point onward.

He became a student of hip-hop

To get a tight grip on the genre he did his homework and researched the greatest hip hop artists in the industry.

He would fall in love with the greats like Pete Rock, Nas, A Trbe Called Quest, and Mr. Lyft.

Rick Fouche The Producer

By the age of 13, Fouche began recording on his computer rapping over classic hip hop tracks. And as his love for music grew, Rick felt he could broaden his horizon’s by getting into production.

Using the basic sound recorder he was using to rap, Fouche would conjure up some fledgling beats. Later on, his childhood friend Dorian Shields known as “DESA MAN”, introduced Fouche to the production software, Fruity Loops, a more complex system at the time.

After playing around with Fruity Loops, Fouche felt the software was no where near efficient to take his music to the next level. That was until Fouche heard DESA MAN’s younger cousin making rhapsodic music on the same software.

It was then Fouche knew he had to step his game up. He continued to practice and build his craft.

Now surpassed the Fruity Loops days, Fouche is a musical genius who grabs his inspiration from producers like:

• Alchemist
• Timberland
• Gangstarr’s DJ Premiere.

While conversing with Fouche, his aurora exuded an intellectual. He’s someone who thinks methodically about how his art can truly inspire the work.

Fouche is not only a musician but a visual artist whose work aims to be bold, to be different, and to be heard.

In his earlier days, Fouche says he was talking about anything. As he’s matured, his music reflects the signs of the times. Themes like police brutality and overcoming adversity.

He even expresses love, lust, and fun in his music as well.

Love, Murder, Cinema

While on the scene for nearly a decade and a half, performing at prolific venues like Webster Hall and opening up for hip-hop socially conscious group Dead President, Fouche has been affectionately dubbed the “hip-hop connoisseur” by his peers.

And if you check out Fouche’s discography, you would see why he was blessed with the moniker. His flow is impeccable.

With his new album Love, Murder, Cinema Rick Fouche proves he’s more than a rapper by displaying a more eclectic sound while singing.

“Love, Murder, Cinema is built on a lot of cinematic instrumentation, some composition, and a very electronic eclectic sound. I’m aiming to blow people’s minds with it”, Fouche said.

With Love, Murder, Cinema, Fouche not only aims to talk about love and the joys of life but also highlight social injustices.

“My project is a modern take on what’s been happening in our society for a very long time”, Fouche said.

Rick Fouche is persistent, and is always evolving to achieve his goals. This coming from a man who when he had no other avenue to do so.

When asked where does he see himself in the next five years, “merging the world with animation and music”, Fouche said.

“I really love animation, combining my music with animation, and adding more visuals to my work. In all, just making myself better as an artist.”, Fouche said.
