A stranger’s $1,000 gift restores faith for NYC mom, sparks fundraiser for nursing school
NEW YORK — A single mother’s spontaneous act of kindness on a Manhattan sidewalk has sparked a wave of generosity online.
Stranger’s $1,000 gift for act of kindness helps NYC mom, nursing student
Michelle, a nursing student and mother, was walking through New York City when a stranger approached her. He asked if she had spare change to catch a bus. Without hesitation, Michelle handed him a few dollars.
Moments later, the man revealed he didn’t need the money. Instead, he was rewarding kindness, and gave Michelle $1,000 in cash.
Content creator rewarding act of kindness
The stranger turned out to be content creator Jimmy Darts, who has millions of followers across social media. Known for his viral acts of generosity, Jimmy travels the country surprising strangers with life-changing gifts and support.
Shocked, Michelle began to cry. She told Jimmy she had recently lost faith in God. Life had been overwhelming. Between raising a child alone and attending nursing school, she had struggled to stay hopeful.
The gesture, she said, reminded her that she was not alone. “In that moment, I knew God had never left my side,” Michelle told him through tears.
The emotional exchange, captured on video, quickly spread across social media. Viewers praised Michelle’s generosity and resilience. Many said her story moved them to tears.
GoFundMe campaign for NYC mom and nursing student
Soon after, a fundraiser was launched to support Michelle’s education. Organizers hope to cover her college tuition and ease her financial burdens. The campaign has gained traction, with donations pouring in from across the country.
As the fundraiser grows, Michelle remains focused on her goals. She plans to complete nursing school and build a better future for her family.
