Young mother dies after cosmetic surgery complications
Ahmonique Miller, a 28-year-old mother from Las Vegas, died just hours after undergoing a cosmetic procedure at an unlicensed clinic in Miami, raising serious concerns about the dangers of underground surgeries.

Ahmonique Miller, a 28-year-old mother from Las Vegas, tragically lost her life just hours after undergoing cosmetic surgery at an unlicensed clinic in Miami.
Tragedy in Miami
Miller traveled to Florida on March 5 alongside her 19-year-old sister, Kiera Barnes, for procedures at Avana Plastic Surgery. Following her Brazilian butt lift and liposuction on March 7, she was taken to Keyla’s Recovery House—a facility later found to be unlicensed and lacking medical supervision.
According to a report by NBC 6 South Florida, Miller died at 10:26 p.m. that same evening, after allegedly being administered unprescribed medication. The incident is under investigation by Miami Police.
Ahmonique Miller’s cause of death
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner recently released a report concluding that Miller died from acute mixed drug toxicity, reports People.
The report revealed a combination of prescribed oxycodone and bromazolam—a powerful synthetic substance commonly linked to counterfeit pills—was found in her system. This blend, the report warned, poses a serious risk of respiratory depression, particularly while asleep.
Barnes told investigators that staff at the recovery house gave Miller two Percocet pills from an unlabeled bottle, along with muscle relaxers, because her prescribed medications were not yet available. Miller was last seen resting around midday. By 9:30 p.m., she was found unresponsive, face-down in bed, showing signs of rigor mortis.
“She’s not calling, she’s not going to send a text… Ahmonique is not coming back,” her mother, Wakeelah Miller, told NBC 6 News, expressing heartbreak over the loss of her daughter and the impact on Miller’s one-year-old child.
Authorities are continuing to investigate both the recovery facility and the circumstances leading to Miller’s tragic death.
According to a preliminary police report, the recovery house owner, Keyla Oliver, admitted to giving Miller two Percocet pills and stated she “did not have a license to practice medicine.”
Ahmonique Miller’s mother creates GoFundMe
Miller leaves behind a one-year-old daughter, according to NBC 6 South Florida.
Her mother, Wakeelah Miller, has created a GoFundMe campaign to support Savannah and pursue justice.
“My daughter’s supposed to be here with her daughter, and unfortunately, she’s not,” she told NBC 6. The fundraiser aims to cover legal expenses, raise awareness, and ensure Savannah’s future is secure.
No arrests have been made, but the family remains determined to hold those responsible accountable. “We refuse to accept this silence,” the GoFundMe page reads. “We will ensure Ahmonique’s story is remembered.”
