MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Bettina Johnson, a 42‑year‑old Mississippi woman who traveled to Martinsburg, West Virginia, is now missing, sparking an urgent search and a public plea from her family to help bring her home.

According to a public appeal reported by the Times-Virginian, Johnson was visiting Martinsburg when communication with her family abruptly stopped. She was last seen the morning of Sunday, August 23 wearing all black near the Royal Farms location on Grapevine Road.

Relatives said she had been walking in the area before disappearing.

According to a missing person’s notice, Johnson is 42 years old. She stands at 5ft8in, approximately 170lbs with Black hair. She was last seen wearing a black top and shorts.

Johnson’s family has created a verified GoFundMe. According to the fundraiser, funds will help cover the family’s cost of travel, lodging, transportation and search materials as they continue looking for her.

Additionally, the fundraiser notes funds will support care for Johnson’s children while relatives remain focused on the search.

“Bettina is deeply loved, dearly missed, and constantly on our minds,” the fundraiser states.

Family members said they are living through “every loved one’s nightmare” and need help spreading her story.

Relatives are urging residents in Martinsburg and the broader Eastern Panhandle to stay alert and report any possible sightings.

They emphasized that even small details could help investigators determine where Johnson went next.
