Georgia mom quits 911 job to care for toddler fighting rare childhood cancer
A Georgia mother has left her job as a 911 operator to care for her toddler, who is battling an aggressive and life‑threatening cancer that has returned despite multiple surgeries and chemotherapy.
Coweta County, Ga. — A Georgia mother quit her job as a 911 operator to become the full‑time caregiver for her 20‑month‑old son, Noah Rogers, who is fighting a rare childhood cancer, Fox 5 Atlanta reports.
Doctors diagnosed Noah with neuroblastoma at 10 months old after an X‑ray, ultrasound and additional testing at Arthur M. Blank Children’s Hospital.
Noah has undergone three surgeries, a feeding tube placement and extensive chemotherapy. Surgeons removed the tumor in Atlanta, but the cancer returned two months later, growing more aggressively and limiting local treatment options.
Because of the tumor’s rapid growth, doctors warned the family that doing nothing would guarantee death.
Family Travels to New York for Life‑Saving Operation
Noah’s parents, Heidi and Jeramy Rogers, told the outlet the tumor sits between his liver and kidney, creating a dangerous and fast‑moving threat.
The family traveled to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York for a critical operation last month.
The family said the surgery was their last hope after exhausting local options.
GoFundMe Launched to Cover Travel and Medical Costs
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the family cover travel expenses, medical bills and other costs tied to Noah’s care.
According to a Sept. 26 update, Noah is now home recovering awaiting his counts to go back up.
Supporters are encouraged to donate or share the fundraiser to help the family manage expenses during Noah’s surgery and recovery.
