Asbury Park High School: 2026-2027 School Year

To start off the 2026-2027 school year, Asbury Park High School student Sincere Lewis spent many hours over the summer getting ready for Esports competition starting in September.

He will be joined by members of the Esports club to compete against other schools in games such as Marvel Rivals and Rocket League. Each game requires reviewing strategies and teamwork. As students learn in the Esports club, teamwork is a must. You cannot enter any of these games and try things alone. Teamwork is essential for success.

Esports has an established curriculum which immerses students into:

• the studies of gaming competition
• teamwork
• game creation
• careers with tech companies and even Netflix

Dr. Medina, the high school principal, established the program with Garden State Esports President Chris Aviles and Vice President Regina Schaffer.

Prehistoric Times Magazine

11th‑grade Asbury Park Student, Andrileidy Ramirez, recently got her artwork published in Prehistoric Times Magazine issue 158. Her life sized Bruhathkayosaurus rivals the T-rex in Batman’s Batcave and the Spinosaurs in the cave of Ghost-Maker.

Asbury Park High School 2026-2027: USING SORA FOR EDUCATION

History teacher Mr. David Wronko recently used Sora AI to produce a fun video from the Cretaceous Warzone. The purpose is to show students how to create an ad for a product that they will create. The tool strengthens students’ writing skills because they must craft a well‑organized, detailed prompt for the software to produce the video they want. For this, Sora in Mr. Wronko’s class has been very useful.
