Midwest hip-hop artist Romey has released “W’s Up (Red & White Anthem),” adding another sports‑driven record to his growing Wisconsin catalog.
Romey previously created “Fear The Deer” for the Milwaukee Bucks, which led to a performance at Fiserv Forum. He later released “Brew Crew” for the Milwaukee Brewers and performed at American Family Field.
Badger Culture Inspires New Anthem
Madison365 reports Romey wrote “W’s Up (Red & White Anthem)” as a modern anthem for University of Wisconsin athletics. He said he wanted a fresh record that captured the energy of Badger fans while honoring the state’s blue‑collar identity.
Romey told the outlet the Wisconsin fight song played in his mind while conceptualizing the track. He added that the anthem reflects statewide pride and applies to all UW sports.
Romey’s connection to Badger culture spans decades. He gave Wisconsin football legend Ron Dayne his first haircut in Madison, a moment that sparked a long friendship and opened doors for early performances.
Rapper Romey’s Independent Career Rooted in Wisconsin
Born on Chicago’s South Side, Romey later built roots across Wisconsin. After relocating to Madison, he sharpened his craft and launched his independent label, Get Rich Records.
His catalog includes projects such as The Goodfellas, The Chicago Takeover, and I Am King. He also earned recognition in The Source’s “Unsigned Hype” and charted with “Don’t Behave,” which debuted at No. 49 on the Hot 100 Singles chart in 2010.
Romey told 93.1 JAMZ that “W’s Up” marks his return after two years, blending Madison’s game‑day culture with statewide sports pride.
Romey’s next full‑length project, Game of Thrones Vol. 1, is scheduled for release in Spring 2027.
