FOX CROSSING, Wis. — The Fox Valley community is rallying around Miracle and Dee Wheeler after a July 27 tornado destroyed their family’s home, as reported by NBC 26. The storm tore through Menasha and Fox Crossing with destructive force, leaving widespread damage across several neighborhoods.
Wheeler Family Known for Helping Others
For years, the Wheelers have supported neighbors through their nonprofit and housing program. They have helped families facing emergencies, instability and financial hardship. Because of that long record of service, residents say they felt compelled to step in when the couple and their four children lost nearly everything.
Fox Valley Community Mobilizes Support
Volunteers across the Fox Valley are providing clothing, food, temporary housing help and cleanup assistance. Supporters organized within hours of learning the Wheelers’ home was gone. Crews cleared debris and restored power as local officials reported damage to hundreds of homes.
The tornado toppled trees, snapped power lines and scattered debris throughout Menasha and Fox Crossing. Water service has returned for many residents, though boil advisories remain in effect in some areas. Curfews and road closures are still active as emergency crews stabilize damaged structures.
Family Begins Rebuilding
The Wheelers are now focused on rebuilding their home and replacing essential items. Donation drives and cleanup teams are helping the family of six recover. Community members say the Wheelers’ history of helping others makes the effort to support them especially meaningful.
Neighbors Give Back
Residents describe the Wheelers as a family that consistently shows up for others. Because of that, many view the current response as a chance to return the care the couple has offered for years. As recovery continues, neighbors are urging others to stay involved and support families who lost homes, belongings and stability in the storm.
A fundraiser has been created for the Wheeler Family.
