Viral Waffle House employee says the company fired him

ATLANTA — Rockstar Riley, a longtime Waffle House employee whose rap videos drew millions of views, says the company fired him after he refused to delete posts filmed in his uniform. His viral track, “Waffle House Options,” pushed him into the national spotlight and turned his shifts into a stage. Yet he says the attention created tension inside the restaurant.

Riley told TMZ he arrived for his shift on Aug. 14 and learned he had been terminated. He says managers told him he violated policy by recording videos in uniform with the restaurant visible. He disagreed, but the decision ended a job he held for 20 years.

According to Riley, the conflict escalated after his July interview with TMZ and a music video shoot. He says an area manager contacted him days later and ordered him to delete every post showing his uniform. Riley refused. He kept filming, believing fans enjoyed his energy. However, he says that choice led directly to his firing.

Rockstar Riley’s Music Strategy

Riley gained widespread attention earlier this summer when his Waffle House‑themed rap songs began circulating online. He told PEOPLE he wrote eight tracks about the chain and hoped Waffle House would add them to its jukeboxes. Riley recorded “Waffle House Options” in February and released a video that spread quickly across social media.

He previously told TMZ and PEOPLE he loved the company so much he wouldn’t quit even for a $1 million record deal. Now, he says that loyalty was not returned.

GoFundMe Support and What’s Next for Rockstar Riley

After his termination, Riley created a GoFundMe to help cover expenses. Fans began donating and urging Waffle House to reconsider.

At the time of this report, the fundraiser has raised $1100.

Riley, who started working at Waffle House at age 15, plans to keep making music. He has begun creating jingles for other brands and wants to produce custom tracks for events like sweet 16s and engagements. He says he hopes to “change the jingle game” by tailoring songs to each customer’s needs.
