SwayvoTwain, the son of late neo‑soul icons D’Angelo and Angie Stone, has been cast as The Notorious B.I.G. in Universal’s upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic Snoop.
SwayvoTwain Lands First Major Film Role
The recording artist, born Michael D’Angelo Archer II, will portray Biggie in what will be his first major movie role.
SwayvoTwain celebrated the casting on Instagram, quoting Biggie’s iconic “It’s all good baby, BABYYY…” line from “Juicy.”
In addition to acting, SwayvoTwain is also a recording artist, as the 29-year-old’s last single arrived in February with “HookahSmoke.”
More on Snoop Dogg Biopic
The film continues to expand its cast with Bentley Green set to play RBX and G Perico cast as Big Reecie Cup.
Jonathan Daviss will star as Snoop Dogg. Alongside Daviss, the main cast includes Myles Bullock (Dr. Dre), Camron Jones (Tupac Shakur), Algee Smith (Warren G), Tre Hale (Suge Knight), and Laya DeLeon Hayes (Shante Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s wife).
Additionally, director Craig Brewer will helm the project, which Universal Pictures has scheduled for an Aug. 6, 2027 theatrical release.
Casting Connects Hip‑Hop Past and Present
Christopher Wallace, known worldwide as The Notorious B.I.G., remains one of the most influential rappers of the 1990s.
Despite the era’s East Coast–West Coast tensions, Snoop Dogg and Biggie shared mutual respect, adding emotional weight to the casting.
The film will explore Snoop’s Long Beach roots through characters like RBX and Big Reecie Cup, both central to his early career.
SwayvoTwain Brings Musical Legacy to the Role
SwayvoTwain has built a growing music career blending Southern soul, hip‑hop and melodic R&B. His recent releases include “DoveSoar,” “Ms. Angie’s Son” and “Hookah Smoke.”
His casting, several outlets noted, feels “poetic,” connecting Biggie’s legacy with the lineage of two influential soul artists.
