Malachi Rivers releases “Healing,” a house‑driven liberation anthem featuring Carla Gibson and Charles Reese
Malachi Rivers, a featured poet and songwriter on a Grammy‑nominated album, has released a new single titled “Healing.”
Rivers says the song honors dance floors that have offered freedom and restoration.
“The club has always been more than a place to dance, it has been a sanctuary,” he says.
Healing Highlights Black and LGBTQ+ Nightlife Traditions
“Healing” blends spoken word with house production. The release notes that dance spaces have long served as “places of joy, freedom, and restoration” for Black and LGBTQ+ communities.
The single features vocalist Carla Gibson and Charles Reese. Producer Hanz Nobe shapes the track with a mix of classic and contemporary house elements.
Rivers enters this release after a notable year. He contributed to Queen Sheba’s Grammy‑nominated album A Hurricane in Heels (Healed People Don’t Act Like That).
His previous album, No Signal, Vol. 1, included collaborations with Grammy winner Doodlebug of Digable Planets and Latin Grammy nominee Tamela Hedström.
He also toured with Marcus Strickland’s Twi‑Life Group and performed on the album Open Reel Deck, which critics called a “striking centerpiece.” Critics praised his contribution as a striking centerpiece. That project also featured multi‑Grammy‑nominated jazz artist Keyon Harrold, according to the release.
Artist Brings Stage Experience Into New House Era
Rivers is known for dynamic live performances. He has appeared at NPR, The Blue Note, the Kennedy Center and The Apollo Theatre.
The press release says “Healing” marks a shift “from cinematic jazz and soulful hip‑hop into the pulsing heart of house music.”
Rivers is an actor, writer, producer and spoken‑word artist from Prince George’s County, Maryland. His work includes roles in David Fincher’s Oscar‑winning film Mank and the digital series Poz Roz. He is a three‑time Indie Series Award winner and a Micheaux Film Festival honoree.
Healing by Malachi Rivers is available on all major streaming platforms.
