Sister Betsy Jean Farrakhan, the eldest daughter of Minister Louis Farrakhan and the late Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, has died.

News of her death first circulated through member posts before the organization issued a formal acknowledgment. The Nation of Islam later confirmed her passing on Facebook, stating she had “returned to Allah.”

Agricultural Leadership and Organizational Service

Much of Farrakhan’s work centered on agriculture, a core part of her legacy within the Nation of Islam. She was closely involved in her father’s agricultural initiatives and encouraged youth participation in farming. According to The Final Call, she helped organize the Nation’s first Michigan Farm‑Agriculture Workshop in 2015. She also worked on the farm in New Buffalo, Michigan. There, she promoted agricultural education and hands‑on training.

In 2016, the Ministry of Agriculture honored her as a first‑generation farmer during the Nation’s annual Saviours’ Day gathering. The award acknowledged her leadership in expanding farming programs and inspiring young people to pursue agriculture. She later received the Ministry’s first Farmer of the Year honor for her work in sustainable farming and community agricultural development, the Final Call reported.

Farrakhan also held leadership responsibilities within the Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class, contributing to community education and organizational development. Her work placed her in several areas of the Nation’s service structure, where she was recognized for her commitment and influence.

Family Loss and Community Impact

Her death comes less than three months after the passing of her mother, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, who died June 27 at age 90.
