The release of a video showing Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin pressing his knee into Floyd’s neck as Floyd pleaded that he couldn’t breathe made the arrest go viral.
Various reports state that authorities transferred Floyd to a local hospital, where he later died.
Following Floyd’s death, Derek Chauvin and three other Minneapolis police officers have been fired.
