Two suspects charged in Long Branch Pier Village shooting death

Two suspects have been charged in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Chrystofer A. Whyte at Long Branch’s Pier Village earlier this month.

Two suspects—one juvenile and one adult—have been charged in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Chrystofer A. Whyte earlier this month at Long Branch’s Pier Village, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

The unnamed juvenile has been charged with murder, conspiracy, several weapon offenses, and hindering and is being held at a detention center.

The charges stem from the June 12 shooting of Whyte, a North Brunswick resident.

Adult Also Faces Weapons Charges

Dwayne Exilus, 18, of Woodbridge, was also arrested.

He faces second-degree charges for Conspiracy and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Additional charges include Hindering and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Long Branch Pier Village Fatal Shooting Investigation

Police responded to a shots-fired call at 8:58 p.m. on June 12 near the Pier Village boardwalk.

Whyte was found with a single gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.

The case is under active investigation by the MCPO Major Crimes Bureau and Long Branch Police.

Supporting agencies include the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Task Force and departments from Woodbridge, Linden, and Metuchen.
