Two officers charged with Aiyana Jones murder

Aiyana Jones was fatally shot after a Detroit’s officers weapon discharged while executing a search warrant for the murder of Jerean Blake.

Aiyana Jones, 7, was shot and killed on May 16th, 2010 after a Detroit officers weapon discharged while executing a search warrant for the murder of Je’Rean Blake.

Officers charged in Aiyana Jones killing

Detroit police officer, Josephy Weekely, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and careless and reckless endangerment of a firearm, causing the death of 7-year-old Aiyana Jones.

Also charged in a Boston woman, who is being charged with perjury and obstruction of justice. It’s unclear her role, but the assistant prosecutor told the court that she lied during the investigative subpoena, adding seven months onto the investigation into the shooting by Michigan State Police.

They were arraigned before Wayne County Circuit Judge Margie Braxton

Weekley fatally shot Aiyana on May 16, 2010, when police entered the home searching for a shooting suspect. The police were accompanied by a camera crew filming a reality-style cable TV show.
