Search continues for missing 10-year-old Arkansas girl swept away in Florida waters

A family vacation turned into a nightmare when 10-year-old Trinity Eslinger of Arkansas was swept away by a powerful current while swimming at a beach in Destin, Florida. The incident occurred on the evening of June 12, as Trinity and her family enjoyed the water near Osteen Beach and Norriego Point. Her mother reportedly dove in to save her, but the current proved too strong.

Since then, an extensive search effort has unfolded across air, land, and sea. Multiple agencies—including the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and volunteer groups like the United Cajun Navy—have scoured more than 250 square miles of coastline and open water. Despite more than 40 dives and the use of helicopters, drones, and marine vessels, Trinity unfortunately remains missing.

On June 19, after six days of intensive searching, local authorities announced they would be scaling back active operations. “Our hearts are heavy, and this is not the outcome anyone hoped for,” said Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden. “We are deeply grateful to every agency, volunteer, and community member who gave their all in this search”.

Trinity’s family, supported by a growing network of volunteers, continues to hold out hope. A GoFundMe campaign launched by her aunt has raised thousands of dollars to assist with ongoing search efforts and family expenses. “All we want is for Trin to be found so her mom can bring her home,” the fundraiser reads.

Trinity, described by loved ones as joyful and full of life, was looking forward to starting fifth grade and celebrating her 11th birthday next month.
