The mother of Julian Brown, the 21-year-old inventor behind the viral Plastoline technology, says her son is safe following weeks of public concern and speculation over his whereabouts.
Mother of inventor Julian Brown speaks out
Nia Brown issued a brief statement to the Daily Mail on July 28.
“I can confirm Julian is safe. But in the best interest of his security, I’m not able to provide any more information.”
Her comments come after Brown’s sudden disappearance from social media earlier this month. It sparked widespread alarm among his 2 million Instagram followers and environmental advocates worldwide.
About Inventor Julian Brown
Brown, a self-taught energy engineer and founder of Naturejab, gained national attention for developing Plastoline. Plastoline is a microwave-powered reactor that converts plastic waste into usable fuels such as gasoline and diesel. His July 9 Instagram video, in which he claimed to be “under attack”. He urged viewers to “screen record this,” fueled speculation that his safety was compromised due to the disruptive nature of his invention.
No missing persons report
Despite the alarming tone of Brown’s post, the Atlanta Police Department says no one has filed a missing persons report. Additionally, no formal investigation is underway. The absence of official action has led many to believe Brown may be voluntarily keeping a low profile.
About His Invention
Brown’s invention has been hailed as a breakthrough in sustainable energy. Industry experts note its potential to challenge traditional petroleum interests. His GoFundMe campaign, launched to support the development of a solar-powered, continuous microwave pyrolysis reactor, has raised over $30,000 to date.

While Brown’s mother has assured the public of his safety, she declined to disclose his location or further details, citing security concerns. The lack of transparency has left supporters divide. Some call for a federal investigation. Others urge patience and respect for Brown’s privacy.
On Wednesday afternoon, Brown did make a new Instagram post with a black background and no caption, leaving more unanswered questions. His silence continues to stir debate about the risks faced by young innovators challenging entrenched industries.
