Grambling State Quarterback C’zavian Teasett creates GoFundMe as he recovers from spinal cord injury
The injury occurred on October 25 during Grambling’s game against Jackson State, and it forced the redshirt sophomore into intensive inpatient rehabilitation far from home.
Baton Rouge, La. — Grambling State University quarterback C’zavian Teasett has created a GoFundMe campaign as he continues recovering from a spinal cord injury he suffered during the Las Vegas HBCU Classic. The injury occurred on October 25 during Grambling’s game against Jackson State, and it forced the redshirt sophomore into intensive inpatient rehabilitation far from home.
GoFundMe Launched to Support Long Recovery
Teasett explained the severity of the injury and the need for long‑term support in his public statement.
“I suffered a spinal cord injury during the Las Vegas HBCU Classic versus Jackson State University,” he wrote. “I have been actively participating in inpatient rehab away from home (Louisiana) in an effort to receive the best possible outcome. This incident has been life‑changing. However, I am making progress daily.”
The GoFundMe has already raised more than $38,000. The funds will help cover essential needs tied to his recovery.
Rehabilitation Away From Home
Teasett has spent months in a specialized rehab facility. He said the distance from Louisiana has been necessary to access the level of care required for spinal cord trauma. His daily routine now centers on therapy, mobility work, and slow but steady progress.
He noted that the transition home will require major adjustments. Because of that, he created the fundraiser to address long‑term needs.
“Due to the overwhelming outpouring of love and inquiries on how to assist me throughout my journey, I have established this GoFundMe account,” he wrote. “Your contributions will apply towards home modifications, accessible transportation, and future medical necessities.”
He also thanked supporters for their continued encouragement. “Thank you in advance for your prayers, texts, and phone calls as I prepare for my transition home,” he added.
Why the C’zavian Teasett Created the Fundraiser
The GoFundMe outlines the practical challenges ahead. Teasett will need:
- Home modifications to support mobility
- Accessible transportation
- Ongoing medical and rehabilitation services
These needs extend far beyond the initial hospital stay, and the fundraiser has become a central resource for his recovery.
Teasett’s Season Before the Injury
Before the injury, Teasett had secured the starting quarterback role after transferring from Southern University. He completed 95 of 170 passes for 1,065 yards and seven touchdowns, according to HBCU Sports. His performance helped stabilize Grambling’s offense and positioned him as one of the team’s most promising young players.
