Pregnant mother of two killed in Atlanta highway shooting while driving home
The family identified the victim as 34‑year‑old Bianca Huntley, who they said was pregnant with her third child. She was reportedly heading home from her job when she was shot on April 14 on I‑75 northbound.

ATLANTA — A pregnant mother of two was shot and killed while driving home from work on Interstate 75 during rush hour near the Atlanta airport, her family said.
Family Identifies 34‑Year‑Old Bianca Huntley
The family identified the victim as 34‑year‑old Bianca Huntley, who they said was pregnant with her third child. She was reportedly heading home from her job when she was shot on April 14 on I‑75 northbound.
According to Atlanta Police, officers responded around 6:15 p.m. to a report of a person shot along the northbound lanes of I‑75 near North Central Avenue SW, close to Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport. When officers arrived, they found Huntley inside her white BMW SUV suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
Mother says Bianca Huntley tried to call 911
Huntley’s mother, Gloria Allen, told Atlanta station 11Alive that her daughter had just left work and was driving through heavy rush hour traffic when she was shot.
“She actually was shot, tried to get out, tried to dial 911, get out of the vehicle,” Allen said, describing her daughter’s final moments. “You’re talking about a light, a shining light that got snuffed out.”
Police found Huntley’s SUV pulled onto the median with its turn signal still blinking, 11Alive reported.
According to a news release, the Fulton County Medical Examiner determined Huntley died from a “gunshot wound involving the left arm and torso.” They ruled her death a homicide.
Investigators probing where shooting happened
Atlanta Police said the preliminary investigation indicates Huntley may have been shot at a separate and currently unknown location before ending up on the interstate.
The department’s Homicide Unit is reviewing traffic cameras and gathering witness statements to determine exactly where the gunfire occurred and who is responsible, according to 11Alive.
Key details released so far
- Location: I‑75 northbound near North Central Avenue SW, by the Atlanta airport
- Time: Around 6:15 p.m. on April 14, during evening rush hour
- Vehicle: White BMW SUV pulled onto the median, turn signal still on
- Injuries: Gunshot wound involving the left arm and torso; death ruled homicide
- Status: No suspect or motive publicly identified; investigation ongoing
Huntley remembered as devoted mother and rising manager
Allen told 11Alive that her daughter moved from Greensboro, North Carolina, to the Atlanta area about nine years ago and built a life through determination and hard work.
Huntley worked as a quality manager for DHL in McDonough and had recently received a promotion. She was in the process of hiring a team when she was killed, Allen said.
By age 30, Huntley had become a homeowner. She was raising her two daughters ages 14 and 5 on her own, her mother told 11Alive. “By herself, raising two daughters, because of her hard work and dedication — nobody did it for her, she did it,” Allen said.
Family members said Huntley was excited about her pregnancy and was expecting her third child soon.
Family and police urge witnesses to come forward
Allen said she does not believe the shooting was random and thinks her daughter was targeted, according to 11Alive.
“I’m a woman of faith. Vengeance belongs to God, but my daughter will be vindicated,” she said.
Atlanta Police said the investigation remains active. They urged anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the shooting to contact the department. APD is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
Tipsters can call 404-577-TIPS(8477) or e-mail the anonymous information using the online form at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
As detectives work to piece together what happened on the interstate that evening, Huntley’s family said they are left searching for answers and justice for a mother whose life, they say, ended in a way she “did not deserve.”
