Things On My Mind
During this time of the Pandemic, I have a lot of things on my mind.
During this time of the Pandemic, I have a lot of things on my mind.
Things on my mind : A Better America Project
To begin with, I would like to talk about my A Better America Project that I created for my students. This project allowed my students to research many African Americans who helped build the foundation of the United States. It also explored the hardships African Americans had to overcome to achieving the ultimate goals of having our first black president and first black and woman vice president.
My project also addressed the fight to ending racism and discrimination of today. I would like to say with the hard work my students put into this project, we have achieved a lot, learned a lot, and like my title has it started to make A Better America.
The above image shows a gift I received from my family to help me continue A Better America Project. The book is entitled Bedtime Inspirational Stories: 50 Trailblazing Black Heroes Who Made History by L.A. Amber. For a quick book review I would like to say it is very colorful and illustrates perfectly many great African Americans who made a huge impact in our country. This book I would recommend for everyone.
Giancarlo Esposito
Another thing on my mind is Giancarlo Esposito being picked for the Marvel character Professor X. I really like this idea because I think he is a really good actor. I enjoyed his character Moff Gideon on the show of The Mandalorian. The realm of science fiction might be very well suited for him. I have to say when I saw some made up images of him without his hair, sitting in the X-Men made wheelchair, like in the comics, I think he will fit the role perfectly.
Check him out in this video as Moff Gideon: All Scenes Moff Gideon: The Mandalorian – YouTube
Denzel Washington
One thing that ties together with Giancarlo Esposito, is Denzel Washington. Denzel Washington is rumored to play Marvel’s villain Magneto. From looking at this image from Brothascomics.com, I think he would do a great job as this character.
When you think about all the great movies Denzel Washington was in such as Training Day, Glory, Fallen, Malcolm X, and Fences, I think he will give us a performance that we have not seen before involving the character of Magneto.
Michael B. Jordan as Superman
Now there is some speculation that Michael B. Jordan may play Superman. If this is the truth, I like that idea because regardless of the critics review of the Fantastic Four 2015, I enjoyed Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm. Also let’s not forget his awesome performance as the Black Panther’s villain, Erik Killmonger. Michael B. Jordan I think deserves a shot at this project if the rumor is true especially after his Creed movies were very successful at the box office. The image below is from The Indian EXPRESS.
Things on my mind : Godzilla vs Kong
Another thing on my mind is that after watching Godzilla vs Kong, I found that Brian Tyree Henry should get some sort of an award for being very entertaining. In the movie Brian Tyree Henry came across like a funny narrator who was also serious. There were many funny moments in the movie in which he added sarcasm when things were looking not too good for the people and the monsters who were in combat. So when you watch this film, you will be entertained not only by the special monster effects but also Brian Tyree Henry.
Besides these great actors, my mind is always non stop.
Operation Deep Scan
One night I reflected back to a thing called Operation Deep Scan which was a super operation to find the Loch Ness monster with sonar. This operation had boats aligned across the loch, each with sonar equipment, working in unison to create a sonar curtain so nothing could escape. The results were three unexplained moving contacts. Were the contacts the monster or something else? Here is something interesting. After Operation Deep Scan, one of the scientists from the operation came to my friend’s middle school. He said that during the mission to find the creature in Loch Ness, there was a thing that looked like a long log. However, every time their boat tried to get next to it, the log kept moving away at a great speed. This thing that was believed to be a log disappeared under the water. Was it the monster?
Fitting perfectly with finding a living dinosaur, I just want to share right now my students, Miracle McBride and Michael Martinez-Perez, got their artwork published in Prehistoric Times Magazine issue 137. They are my current students at Asbury Park High School. Furthermore, in the magazine, my ongoing project of the Cretaceous Warzone was also published.
Mike Tyson
The final thing on my mind is the boxing match Mike Tyson had with James Buster Douglas. I just want to say first, I would not last ten seconds in the ring with them. This is just my own opinion. Take it or leave it. I feel that Mike Tyson did not lose that match. During the bout, Mike Tyson knocked down Buster Douglas. Douglas appeared to be down longer than a ten count. However, it appeared the referee was taking his time doing the count. I don’t know, but I think Tyson might have been robbed. The image below is from Newsday.com
