The Black Girl Project offers emotional healing for Black women
Nijiama Smalls, acclaimed author of the popular, bestselling, and transformative book The Black Girl’s Guide to Healing Emotional Wounds, is proud to announce the official launch of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit: The Black Girl Healing Project.
The Black Girl’s Guide to Healing Emotional Wounds, the bestselling, transformative book by acclaimed author Nijiama Smalls, has inspired a bold evolution in mental health advocacy. Building on its trusted legacy, Smalls has launched The Black Girl Healing Project, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing accessible emotional support to Black women and girls.
About The Black Girl Healing Project
With virtual care available 24/7, the project aims to reach Black women navigating postpartum alone, grieving in isolation, or struggling after layoffs with nowhere to turn. From worksheets to crisis response to a healing-centered chatbot named Rashida, the platform bridges the gap where traditional systems fall short.
“We’re moving Black women and girls from crisis to excellence by eliminating barriers to emotional support, healing, and long-term wellness no matter where they live,” said Smalls.

- Round-the-clock crisis care for communities long excluded from mental health support
- Community programming and advocacy, rooted in empowerment and systemic change
