Dylann Roof found guilty
A federal jury in North Charleston, SC convicted Roof on nine counts on hate charges, including three counts attempted murder, nine counts of obstructing of religion resulting in death, and nine counts of using a firearm to commit murder during a crime of violence.
As the verdict was read, Roof stood emotionless, reported Alexandra Olgin of South Carolina Public Radio, who was in the courtroom.

The charges included murder, attempted murder, damage to religious property, obstruction of religious belief and weapons charges.
Sentence
Federal prosecutors are seeking a death sentence. Dylann Roof has asked to represent himselfin the penalty phase of the trial, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 3.
