April Fools’ Day Comedy show
Presented by Marquee Concerts, WBLS’ April Fools’ Day Comedy Show heads to the Theater at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 1, 2017 with laugh-out-loud performances by Arnez J., Gary Owen, Michael Blackson, Tommy Davidson, & Don “D.C.” Curry, and hosted by Sommore. WBLS announced they have now added Arsenio Hall to the lineup.
Lineup
Arnez J. knows comedy! For over four decades, he has brought his stand-up shows across the country, performing for sold-out crowds and celebrities such as Prince. Known for his appearances in All Star Comedy Jam and Def Comedy Jam, Arnez J. has also appeared on several television programs, including shows on Comedy Central and BET. He’ll take over the Theater at Madison Square Garden alongside Tommy Davidson, who is best known for his role in the hit television show, In Living Color. Last Fall, Davidson debuted his new television series, Vacation Creation, on the CW Network. The show gives families a chance to travel and learn about their history’s culture and heritage. Check out the latest episodes here.
Also hitting the stage is “The African King of Comedy” and Next Friday star, Michael Blackson. Blackson has appeared on several comedy series, including BET’s ComicView, Showtime at Harlem, and P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO, in addition to touring the world, performing live at comedy clubs, universities, and special events. Joining him is fellow comedian and actor, Gary Owen. Owen has done everything in comedy from stand-up to television to movies, appearing alongside such bigwigs as Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Tyler Perry, the Wayans Brothers, and Eddie Murphy.
Rounding out line-up is Don “D.C.” Curry, best known for his role as Uncle Elroy Jones in the hit cult film series, including the original movie, Next Friday, as well as his role on the sitcom, Grace Under Fire. The night is hosted by Sommore, who has appeared on several comedy and television shows, including BET’s Live from L.A, The Hughleys, and Comedy Central’s Roast of Flavor Flav. She also toured with female comedians Mo’Nique, Laura Hayes, and Adele Givens as part of The Queens of Comedy tour.
“The April Fools’ Day Comedy Show has been a staple event for Emmis New York for over 10 years,” states Charlie Morgan, VP/General Manager of Emmis New York. “With a line-up that embodies the WBLS audience so well, it was only fitting that the station takeover hosting the event from sister-station HOT 97. One of the strongest things our stations and comedy have in common is that both are cross-generational and appeal to the masses. We look forward to welcoming more of the WBLS audience to the show, and happily invite back HOT 97’s fans to enjoy a night out.”
WBLS’ April Fools’ Day Comedy Show is presented by Marquee Concerts. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com; head to WBLS.com for more details.
