As summer travel heats up, Black singles across the U.S. are mapping out meaningful adventures that blend spontaneity, tech-savviness, and cultural connection, according to the 2025 BLK Summer Travel Report released Tuesday.

The report reveals that 17.4% of Black travelers are using loyalty apps like Hopper to score travel deals, while 18.9% opt for organic exploration, choosing serendipity over digital guidance. The data suggests an emerging balance between intuitive discovery and strategic planning.
BLK Summer Travel Report 2025: Dream Journeys Prioritize Community and Culture
When asked about their ideal 2025 trips:
- Nearly half (49.5%) imagine spontaneous escapes spanning cities, beaches, and nature.
- Group travel with fellow Black adventurers appeals to 22.2%.
- Cultural immersion—like learning music in New Orleans or history in Senegal—attracts 16.1%.
- Wellness retreats in destinations like Tulum or Bali resonate with 12.2%.
BLK’s Amber Cooper Shares Travel Tips for Black Singles
Amber Cooper, BLK’s brand manager and relationship expert, unveiled seven actionable strategies to empower Black singles to travel with intention. Her culturally grounded recommendations include:
- Honor Black Heritage: Visit diaspora-rich areas such as Accra and Harlem; explore local festivals and book through Black-owned operators.
- Build Connections Early: Use BLK and Meetup to form travel crews and seek out Black-owned hotspots in advance.
- Prioritize Safety: Research neighborhoods with diverse demographics and lean on platforms like Black Travel Alliance for safety tips.
- Maximize Rewards: Use loyalty apps for budget-friendly bookings and consider curated group trips via Black-owned agencies.
- Collect Cultural Keepsakes: Support Black artisans by purchasing locally meaningful souvenirs.
- Amplify Black-Owned Brands: Share restaurant and shop discoveries on social media to uplift community commerce.
- Balance Digital Tools and Intuition: Blend itinerary tools with spontaneous experiences for genuine local connection.
Cooper also encouraged singles to tap into BLK’s in-app Travel Community, a hub for recommendations, resources, and connection with fellow travelers exploring destinations such as Atlanta, Johannesburg, and Lisbon.
